kstar program | 9-11
The K-Star Program acts as a bridge between the fundamental level (Nancy Greene) and the Alpine Program (K1/K2). K-Star skiers spend a greater amount of time training in gates then the Nancy Greene Level, but the fun and games aspect of the fundamental level are still included.
K-Star skiers build on the fundamental skills learned in the Nancy Greene level and develop their versatile skiing ability. Although racing is a central feature of the program the consolidation of beginner level skills is the focus. This is done through a mix of gate training and all mountain skiing.
Ultimately skiers who progress through the K-Star Program will have the necessary skills for the Alpine Program and are encouraged to continue on in the word of ski racing.
The K-Star Program will start on December 15th if the weather co-operates.
*Please note that we cannot accept children who have not skied before or are beginner level skiers. If your child is either of these please have a look at the programs offered by the Mount Seymour Snow School.*
The K-Star Program is eligible for the CRA Child Fitness Tax Credit. For more information about the tax credit please visit the CRA info site.
program dates and duration
The K-Star program commences on December 15th and finishes on March 30th. There are two regional races, a number of away trips to Whistler and a year end provincial race in Sun Peaks, all of which are optional.
K-Stars can chose to attend from 2 to 4 days per week, one or two weekend days and one or two week nights. Skiers meet their coaches ready to ski every morning at 9 AM and are picked up a 3PM on the weekend and every Tuesday or Thursday evening between 6 PM and 9PM. Between drop off and pickup your child will be fully supervised by our professional coaching staff.
There are also a number of optional camps available through the season. Christmas Camp I is included in K-Star fees and runs December 27-29. For an additional fee you can sign your child up for Christmas Camp II and the Spring Break Camp. For more information about our camps please visit our camps page.

All skiers must have their own skis and are required to have a snow sports specific helmet which will be worn at all times on the hill. Rental equipment is available through Mount Seymour and other local rental outlets and must be obtained in advance of the start of our sessions. Winter sports specific clothing is also vital for an enjoyable day. The weather changes rapidly on the mountain with sun, snow and rain sometimes occurring in the same day.
