Equipment List

Please see the list of required equipment for athletes based on their program.

 U8/U10 Equipment List

  • Helmet (second year U10s we recommend looking at hard eared helmet if moving into U12)
    • POC, Uvex and Briko are great options for FIS approved helmets.
  • Skis – Multi Event (twin tips do not work well for helping to develop skiing skills – athletes need a ski with an edge and sidecut that they can learn to carve).
  • Ski poles.

U12 Equipment List

  • FIS approved hard eared helmet (Uvex, POC, Briko).
  • Slalom skis – All mountain skis and twin tips do not allow for the athletes to build on their skills and further develop their carving and skiing technique. They also do not have an edge that will hold up in an icy course.
  • GS skis (optional).
  • Pole guards (optional – we will recommend if we think you need it and don’t have it).
  • Shin guards (optional – we will recommend if we think you need it and don’t have it).
  • Chin guard (optional – we will recommend if we think you need it and don’t have it).
  • Downhill Suit – optional, but becoming very popular at U12 level (second hand ones can be found online and on the facebook ski racing buy and sell).

U14/U16 Equipment List

  • FIS approved hard eared helmet (Uvex, POC, Briko).
  • Slalom skis – All mountain skis and twin tips do not allow for the athletes to build on their skills and further develop their carving and skiing technique. They also do not have an edge that will hold up in an icy course.

Where can you purchase ski racing equipment?

Looking for new equipment?

Swiss Sports Haus is the main ski racing equipment dealer now in the Greater Vancouver Area. It is located on 15th and Marine Drive in West Vancouver. Amanda and Sean the owners are very helpful. Inform them you are apart of the MSSC and you will receive a 20% off discount on all ski racing related gear.

Small helmet sizes can sell out fast, if you know what kind of helmet you are looking for shop early!!!! They are always happy to special order something for you, but you won’t be able to receive the 20% off discount and you will have to pay for the shipping. We do NOT recommend buying a used helmet. Helmets are a safety device and you can never guarantee it has not received a sever impact.

Looking to purchase or sell used equipment?

If you have any used equipment that no longer fits your athlete and are interested in selling it to new members and athletes coming up through the program please email coordinator@mtseymourskiclub.com.

If you are looking for used skis, slalom gear (pole guards, chin guard, and shin guards) or poles please email coordinator@mtseymourskiclub.com.
