MSSC Alpine Athletes

This Saturday, April 12 the Mount Seymour Ski Club is hosting the 2008 Coast Spring Cup. This is the inaugural year for what we hope will be an annual event replacing the Coast Zone Final usually held at Mount Washington. We are planning a much different event than has been done in the past and over the past month we’ve been hearing huge excitement from all of the zone clubs. We are now expecting about 200 Kinder racers to attend and many more family and friends to come along and take part in our festival.

For more details, please see the race notice at http://bcalpine.com/dyndata/calendarfiles/477.pdf for more information on the races and other exciting aspects of the festival. We think you’ll be excited too!

As well as helping to end the season on a high note, this event will contribute much needed funds to the MSSC Legacy Fund. The fund will finance the construction of the new MSSC Cabin on Mount Seymour and in future will help young racers from all Coast Zone clubs to attend camps and races they would not otherwise be able to afford.

To put on an event of this size and complexity has taken many volunteers working long hours and the work is not quite done, so we need your help too. This is a one day event and is the last event of the season, so we expect it will be loads of fun. Come on out and lend a hand and enjoy the festival with all of your friends in the club and the zone! Information on volunteering is on the race notice. You may also just reply to this email and we’ll add you to the list.

If you’d prefer to just come out and enjoy a day on the mountain, this is the day. We’re going to have good food, live music, a beer garden and some of the best 11 to 15 year old racers in the country competing to be top dog in a very exciting dual format race with big jumps, thrills and spills. Bring your lawn chair and tropical shirt and prepare for an entertaining day!

Note: if you’re not attending the race with a racer and pre-ordering your lunch, you can still enjoy a BBQ Chicken lunch by emailing linda.brown@mtseymourskiclub.com by Wednesday. We will try to ensure sufficient food is available.

We hope to see many of our current and past members at the festival. Hope you can all make it!
